floppy clutch pedal
floppy clutch pedal
hey guys, i finally got my car on the road, and i was cruising down the road taking a little drive, (ironically i was coming from the junkyard, which i started to think i should have left the car at) and i went to pop it into 5th, and the clutch had no pressure. i my foot just went straight to the floor. i pulled over and still nothing, just floppy pedal. so, i popped the hood, and the hydrolic clutch fluid was low, but there was some in there (filled about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch). i'll be honest, i was getting on it a bit hard, but not too too bad, just country road driving. what could the problem be? i think that maybe the wire thingamajig connected to the pedal may have went, because it seemed as though i needed to press the clutch further to the floor, but i couldn't, seeing the floor was there. 4th gear would grind when you put it in, but i think that may just be a synchro. anyone know what my problem could be?
i couldn't figure it out, so i did what we all absolutely hate to do, flat towed that biotch to the mechanic. glad i did, i woulda never figured it out. turns out way up top of the pedal like in the dash, theres a plastic clip that snapped. he replaced it with a metal one, and told me to buy a mustang(damn ford guys). the most expensive metal clip in the world, lol, 40 bucks! well thats labor as well, if i had gotten desperate and brough it into a dealer they woulda ate donuts and looked at it for 2 hours, lol, costing me maybe 200 bucks just for "diagnosis" she's running fine, took her for a test drive, she still goes sideways around the corners like no tomarrow, so i'm happy.

That would be the clip that attaches the pedal to slave cylinder.
It wasn't clear to me from your original post that the pedal was swinging freely, or I'd have suggested that. To me a mushy clutch still has some noticeable resistance to it.
(edit, never mind, I must have been confusing your post with someone else's. I'm soooo glad it's Friday! The comment about the clip still stands.)

Why do I get the feeling I really shouldn't have been posting ANYTHING on Friday...

Thanks for the correction!
