Lockup: do I need it?

I do not have the connection hooked up for the lockup. There is nothing plugged in there. Do I need lockup?

Should I add a lockup controller or am I fine with out it. The tranny guy that is rebuilding my tranny says I should have it otherwise the convertor will heat up and burn out. Is this true?

Also what is the cheapest lockup switch I can buy? Where?

I have also heard that the tranny will get too hot without the lockup, so I would say try to get a switch. Mine quit working, so I just wired up a toggle switch to lock it, until I can figure out how to fix it.

With 3.73's you may get away with it. I would recommend using it though. I would also recommend that you make sure that the TV geometry is correct with your carb or that will kill it too.

Without the TCC lock-up you will generate more heat due to the slippage through the torque convertor. If you do not want to get it working I would at least add on an auxillary trans cooler(in line with the factory one
