Need to know...Me am moron.
I know engines but dont know jack about transmissions, search did me no good but. . . what is a transbrake and its use? Also the difference between forward and reverse shift patterns? I got a built trans but was done just before I bought the car so I wanna know this stuff.
Hey, don't fret about it, that's what we're here for!
A trans-brake is a control system, electro-hydraulic, for drag-racing. It supposedly really helps with consistency, bracket racing would probably see the greatest benefit.
Basically, it allows you to put the car in gear and push/hold a button, raise the engine to the optimum starting revs (high stall) and when it's time to go (last yellow) let go of the button, and the transmission is released allowing everything to start.
Reverse shift pattern is where the norm is:
P R N D 2 1 (std. 3 spd auto), the reverse is:
P R N 1 2 D typically used with 'slap shift' shifters.
While shifting, instead of pushing forward, you pull back on it.
Usually there is not much governor control, and the shifts happen NOW! Not recommended for street use!
Hope this helps...
