Mustang 8.8?

I know I am going to catch it for this one but I have found two of these axles really cheap with disk brakes and posi from a newer style mustang and was wondering what people thought of these. I did a search with no luck other than a few things on the 9". Does anyone know the length of these, weight, strength, bolt partern etc.? I know I will have to weld on some mounts but that is no big deal. Thanks for the help and I know it is a Mustang part but at least I am faster than most of the Mustangs around here, might as well embarase them with some of there parts.

I have an 8.8 out of a Mazda B4000 in my S-10. I'm sure it's a different width than a mustang, it's 58" axle flange to axle flange.
It has a posi out of a mustang and gears out of an f-150. I had the axles redrilled by Moser engineering for $40. These rears are similiar in strength as the 28 spline GM 8.5, in fact the 8.8 uses the exact same bearings and seals as the 8.5. Except for the pinion seal.

How would you secure the torque arm?

From what Ive seen the 8.8 is known as a strong rear to the ford faithful. I have one on my Lincoln Mark VII. Theres lincoln buffs pullin 11's in these very heavy cars with the stock rear ends only with gear changes. So Id say 8.8's are pretty strong.

Thanks for the info, I was planning on welding up a custom torque arm mount something like what spohn does. I am not really sure as I just want to snag the axle while I can get it cheap. I probably won't run it untill I am firmly in the 12's or so and breaking axles. I don't like the 9" because it takes so much power to turn and this 8.8 was so cheap I thought it would be a good option. Does anyone know how good the mustang disc brakes are? Thanks again,
Tyler

I've thought of that before it seems like a good Idea. Let us know what you find out.
