Dana 36 to a 44
does anyone know what would be involved with a dana 36 to a dana 44 swap my corvette ...a friend has a wrecked 90 with a dana 44 and i can have what i need to get it to fit but he wants my 36 in return so what extra parts if any will i need and how hard of a job is it ( back yard or no it needs a lift )

I'd ask this on the corvette forum instead of here. I know that it's a pretty popular swap, and as far as I know it's a direct swap. The only screwing around that you should need to do is to replace the drive & driven gears in the tailshaft of the transmission to accomodate the new gear ratio since I doubt that you'd want to replace the Dana 44's gear ratio with one of the junk gear ratios that the Dana 36s had.
Most people change the pumpkin and the cover. Not hard, just takes some time.
The original driveshaft will be a little long and should be shortened, but some people can get it on. The brace will need the bolt holes relocated too.
If you can get the driveshaft and brace from the 44, you have it made.

Oh yeah, I forgot that the 88+ had the different wheel offset.
