700R4 won't shift into 3rd at WOT

I know I've read of this problem before but I couldn't find much about it after a few searches.

My trans will not shift into 3rd at full throttle.

It is a remanufactured 700R4 from Certified Transmissions. My warranty says 1yr or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Well it's been more than a year, but less than 10,000 miles. (Suck)

I'm not sure how long it's been doing this, since it shifts into 3rd under WOT at around 90mph.

Is my trans screwed or does something need adjusted?

Please help!

Brian, I had the same problem with my 700 after Transgo stuff was installed, man I was pissed cause when racing you'd have to jump up and down on the gas to get it into 3rd. After much bitching and moaning I finally listened to people and dumped in a bottle of Sea Foam tranny stuff. Now it works like it was suposed to, I hit every gear right when I move the gear selector no matter if it's 3000 or 7000, it goes in. From what I've read it's just varnish that keeps the valves in the valve body from doing their thing and the sea foam basically cleans it up and the filter catches it. Don't be like me and **** around, it's only $6 so what are you out if it does'nt fix it?

Is that what the problem really is?? No kidding!! I had that problem on my original transmission... no 2-3 at WOT, I always had to let up on the gas. Both rebuilds after that allowed a 2-3 WOT. I don't think anybody has an answer as to "why?" besides "time for a rebuild"!

Brian89transam, if you try it, let us know what happens!

When it first "cleaned" itself out the 1-2 shift was sweet for play time as the rear end would lose all traction and go sideways with my street tires on, but, I loosened the TV cable a touch and remedied that, I still have very firm 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shifts but they don't snap your neck or break the tires loose anymore. Kinda makes you look like an *** driving around town chirping every gear at every stop light. I've said before I don't believe in the "remedy in a bottle", but I will say that in my case it worked and ALL the many people that told me to try it are firm believers in the Sea Foam product. Tom P, yes something might not be right so it warrants a rebuild, but unless your right there and watch them pull out every valve, spring, check ball and seal then run tiny brushes through every passage and port, what's to say that some of that gunk might not get cleaned off, think about ALL the components in an entire tranny and would it be feasible to TOTALLY take it down to every last peice? Maybe in your town and tranny shops they do that, and if they do it for the same price as every other shop in the country more power to ya, but in the practical world of automotive/truck repair things usually get torn down in large/small set componets, known wear areas are checked then repaired or replaced-not TOTAL dissasembly. Anyone have a count on the exact number of components inside a 700r4 and I mean EVERYTHING? Not trying to sound like too big of a dick, but we all know **** happens- for better or worse. Lets just say a guys EFI motor that is'nt running right, had the same syptoms as my car and I dumped in a bottle of injector cleaner and it solved my problem, would you at least try a bottle of injector cleaner as a possiblity or just tell them- Oh sounds like it needs a rebuild. Food for thought.
