My car just started making a clunking sound today, it makes the noise when the clutch is pushed in, and when i let off the gas, it does not make the noise when excelerating. Is this a bad clutch or something else, Please help. My car is a 1984 SC 5 speed with a 3.8L V-6 229 from a Mailibu.

 

check the trans mount, not sure if that'd be it or not , where is the sound coming from?

 

It seems to be coming from the back of the car.

 

put a jack under the rear of the trans lift it up if the trans moves off the rear trans mount thats what it is. If you want the cheepway out its like 8.99 at pepboys if you want polly its like 25 at speedshops
simple to put in takes like 5 minutes and thats using manual tools not air
