hey fellow third geners I have a starter that just spins, so I pulled the starter and out of four consecutive teeth, 3 are fubar, the starter was benched checked good. Can't I just turn the crank and hope it doesnt land in the same place again?? I was told V8s only land in 2 different locations on the wheel, can anyone verify this, and do I really need to change it?? It sounds like hell plus I'm trying to sell the GTA to afford the payments on the ex's 99 Z28. Thanks!!

 

You could do that, but the engine has a tendency to stop at the same few places every time... like on the compression strokes of cylinders, four spots actually... a flex plate isn't much money, just change it out.
