what is the cheapest way to go, i have a racing built 700r4 tranny, but i want a 5 sp, were can i go to convert it, and how much, also could i do it my self or would i have to take ti to a shop, i have soem decent amount of history with cars, ecently took out my 305 and dropped my 350 after i built it up. thanks for the help
Well, with that built 350 I don't think a T5 will hold up too long if you are doing any type of drag racing. To get a 5 speed to would hold up you would have to go aftermarket, but for around the same price you could have a 6 speed that can take tons of abuse. If I were you I would look into a T56 trans from a 94-97 camaro/firebird. I got mine plus everything needed to install for around 1600. The conversion is not that difficult, I finished mine with some help in two days. There are a few tech articles around that outline the procedure very well.

ya i wouldn prefer the 6sp, thererecked 96 i think camaro around here with a good engine and tranny, but were do i go from there to get the clutch settup and such... thanks for the help
If you are running a motor with a two piece rear main seal I think everything will swap over except you will need a different flywheel. Here is a thread that I found Two Piece .
If you have a one piece rear main seal everything should swap right over.
One last thing, you may have to replace your starter with smaller one.
