I have an 83 Z28 that I just swapped a 350 into recently. Currently I have a T5 NWC tranny which I know will break soon, it is starting to leak fluid ect. I have been thinking of a T56 swap, however, I looked over at Forte's Motorsports, http://www.fortesparts.com/tremec/tr3550.html
and they claim to carry a Tremec 3550 and TKO that will fit into a 3rd gen. I tried contacting them via email without a response yet. I was planning on giving them a call, however I was curious if anyone out there has used this solution. From the datasheet and pictures on the website I can see that they have it in a 3rd gen with minor mods, mainly to the crossmember. I want to know if it is a direct fit replacement, and if these transmissions are as strong as they say they are. A direct bolt solution is great for me if it is possible, 6-speed coolness aside! A 5 speed will do me fine, so if anyone has any information, or comments from the info on their website, please let me know, Thanks
