not going in to gear

i was cruzin around today then i was in 1 gear for a while. we got back to my buddies house. when i was trying to out my car into gear, it seemes really sloppy and i would be in "D" and the car was really in "N". but the car would still go in to a gear and drive fine. but seems like a cable is loose. a buddie said it may be a transmission bolt for a cable.??

does anyone have ideas!!
thanks aaron

The other end of the shift cable is bolted to the transmission via two transmission pan bolts. Its very common for these two bolts to vibrate loose. Get down there and tighten them up before they come completly out and you have no bolts!
