lockup question...

I recently purchased a new Pro-built 700r4 trans and ACT convertor (2800rpm stall), now for some unknown reason, my torque convertor locks up in 2nd gear for just a brief moment under hard accelleration, if i unplug the wires from the trans, this problem does not occur.

Any idea as what would cause this, i never noticed this problem with the old trans and convertor(both stock), also i have tried swapping the lockup switches located in the valve body. the problem does not change.

Is my ecm going bad?

would there be a problem with me installing a switch to disable the lockup until i get into high gear.

thanks for any help.

It sounds hydralic. I know five7kid had a similar problem after a transgo install I dont know if he ever go it figured out though. You might want to do a search under his name.

I don't believe that it is a hydraulic problem, because the problem does not occur when the wires are disconnected from the trans. this leads me to believe that it is something in the harness or ECM.

My scanner shows the converter locking and unlocking when this problem occurs.

thanks for any help

yep, i have called and talked with Dana, He was the one that suggested that i change the lock-up switch in the trans(which i did and the problem still exists), then run the car without the wires connected, and the problem went away, so he's say's there is no problem with the trans or converter. (i believe he is right, I'm pretty confident that the problem is in the ECM or the stock prom)

It just my luck, I mod one thing on my car and something else breaks!!!

I'm going to try a different prom, if that don't work, a friend is sending me his spare ECM for me to try. I will find this problem someday!
