Your car should have came from the factory to do better than 125 and also cruise in overdrive. Did you put the 3.42 gears in because I know they came with 3.23. 3.42 was for 5 speed cars.

It would be too much of an under taking for us to change to metric, plus I mean honestly I don't know anyone in the states who would want metric or your guys electrical outlets... Don't even want to go anywhere near that

You also forgot about the peugot, another great marvel from france! :sillylol:

I've had mine up to 140 MPH with the T-tops off and 2 passengers. When I saw it still accelerating at about 2 MPH/second past the end of the speedo I was like WTF!?!? and let off. The tires I have now are only V-rated.

The max I have taken my car is 210kmh (aprox 128mph) (and it appeared to have some left)
Before that I had take it 4 times to 200kmh (aprox 120) (Sometimes it takes more times that other must be elevation)
Normally I dont pass my car of 170kmh (aprox 103-4mph) becouse it get ther pretty quickly and the brakes are not good at all even trying to stop from 140kmh (85mph) to something like 30kmh (-20mph) takes to much time.

Also I dont think that our cars would need that much Hp to get to the 200mph mark i think 600hp would be enought (I think thats what a salt flats one have with a 350 carb and that was the speed it make)

There are many cars with lot of drag coefficient that only need 500 hp or so to get to 300kph (183mph) and the ferrrari F40 (wich have lots of drag) with "only" 475hp can make 197.64mph (324kmh)

So keep the faith if you gear your car with a T56 to put your top hp rpm´s near your top speed there should be no problem getting to 170mph or 180mph, The viper only have 500hp and can make something like that.

135mph and it had a hell of a lot left. Stock they say 162mph. That is awfully fast. Wouldn't wanna try that here in NJ. The roads aren't the best and the cops will probably just beat you to death if they catch you doing 160+.

holy crap no way! i wasnt going THAT fast... Was I? I dont think my car can do that speed. Around 5K it felt like it was goina fall apart (T-top rattles and all) but I held on to it... cause I was curious if the engine would "run out of breath"

It didnt... It kept going! wasnt THAT bad... no other cars on the road.. 2:00 AM and a straight stretch of highway... there was more left too but like i said... shouldnt go past 6K... heh.. when I get my overdrive tranny I will have to see just how much faster it will go for me. I need a speedo they want $200 for the electronic one but my trannies sender unit is blocked by my darn torque arm mount.

you sure it was 175 MPH? whew. i thought more like 135 or somthing... damm.

Simplified Formulae:

MPH = (RPM*Tire Diam)/(TransGear*FinalGear*336)

6200 * 26 / 1 * 2.73 * 336 = 175.74

By the way you have properly rated tires dont you?

Don be crazy

Also How much Torque does your engine make at that rpm´s?

For your Info In your car in 3rd gear (1 to 1)

2100rpm 59.52
2300rpm 65.19
2500rpm 70.86
2700rpm 76.53

By the way wich is the speed limit in your roads?

Be carefull of the traffic cops.

154 mph verified with my electronic microcontroller powered speedometer, accurate within .1 mph from 0 to 500 mph (yes, I know, the car will never go that fast...) This is in 5th(.68) 3.50's in the rear at about 5500 on 275/35ZR18s.

Not that I think it is a good idea, but if you are using the stock speedometer to tell how fast you are going, it isn't necessarily accurate. Time a half mile or so at a constant speed, then take 3600/time in sec. Shoot for a 20 second mile

The stock tach isn't real accurate either. My computer says the engine is turning 4000 when the tach says 5500. The computer is right

Just to throw my $.02 in....

I hit about 130mph by the end of the front straight at Brainerd International Raceway with my current engine (sans the Speed Density swap and the siamesed base) and a mostly toasted TH700R4.... The engine had more to it at the time but the trans had other thoughts..... And I was too much of wuss to stay in it INTO turn 1 ......

Got the T56 now ... And better brakes on the way.... So we'll see what I can (and have the ***** to) hit next year. For those that don't know, the front straight at BIR (exit of turn 10 to entrance of turn 1) is just short of 1 mile. I was coming out of turn 10 (tranny limited) somewhere around 40 mph IIRC.....

Oh yeah, that was with some sort of radar gun they had setup at the track... My speedo was reading right about there as well though IIRC (not exactly staring at the speedo much with turn 1 looming at the end of the straight )

Do it right folks, on the track!

with a t-5 and 3.42 gears i've had the speedo needle bouncing back and fourth on the trip reset button of my 145 mph speedo. Theres a good inch and a half past the 145 mark till you hit the reset button, so i'm guessing about 160, I don't have too much faith in the stock speedo though. that was about 4900~ rpm in fifth btw...

no speedo.. thats why i asked how fast.
the tach is a autometer and is very accurate.
how do i know? cause my revlimiter is at 7000 rpms and in neutral the tach says 7000 rpms when i hear the rev limiter "occur"... so there

im getting my drivetrain changed out.. heh..

700R4 tranny and a 3.42 gear..

i should be able to do 200 MPH now with my 500 horsepower motor

cant wait!

Please upgrade your tires before doing that again, and be very very cautios about traffic, if its possible do it on a closed course.

Also stock brakes dont slow the car very quickly from 100mph and on, so good brakes is a must, as is good working suspenssion.

I just dont wanna hear about an accident hapend couse of this thread and people finding out the top speed of theyr cars.

be safe.

Last night i was barreling down a dual carageway at speed. there wasn't a curve in sight, and conditions were perfect. the car was steady as a die off the clock (85 speedo, bah!) given the remaining travel on the speedo past 85, it reads to about 95 - and we were going faster, i reckon 105.

What amazed me was the car was totaly stable, and quiet (ish) with only a small throtle opening. Revs were below 3000 and there was plenty more to go.

Damn you guys are lucky I can stand on the gas and down hill and wind pushing behind and it will still hit 110mph because of the speed limiter, and when it does hit 110 then the front end drops to the ground and engine bogs down just like its run out gas it doesen't miss and it will stay at 110 till get off the gas

they made thousands like my car teal 92 rs with 305 (lo3) v8
700r4 trans 2:73 gears I'm 2nd owner it had the original glass t-tops and a cargo mat, but all was changed by the original owner mat pulled t-tops changed to plastic from a 1989 camaro.
my rs stands for Really slow

my max(not sure of speed) was the last time my 700r4 worked! I was at 6000rpm's in OD w/ 2.73 rear. My tire size is 225/60r15. Like I said, I got just about 5 mins from home and I heard a clunk. After that, only had low. oops! I needed to swap out tranny anyway for build up. guess that is one way to get me motivated

The look of total terror on my buddies face as I was doing this will be forever burned into my memory!lol

Well im lucky not to have a speedlimiter.
Its not to hard to remove it if you have one.
Just need a computer some wires and the software.

ive hit 5000rpm in 5th gear which just a tad over 150mph.....

i punched it for a second, and the car snapped my head back even at that speed....but the car got all smooth and quiet which lead me to believe i was becoming airborne....so i didnt push it any further lol. but it had alot more in it.
