None ECM 700R4 Conversion

Recently installed new pressure switch and lock up solenoid. Thats right I have no ECM now and rewired the 700R4. Got this out of Chevy High Performance Mag. Anyways seems like I did it all right. Tells me in article that I need a second ground and a 12v power source. Says nothing about hooking up a toggle to it. Talked to some people they told me that the newly installed pressure switch would engage the lock up for me no need for toggle. Go to splice into 12v power and then it happens. I drop into gear and start out on my test drive. Right a way I can tell somethings wrong. The Damn thing doesn't want to shift into 1st 2nd and so on. I pulled the wire out shut down. Started car and drove off and it started to shift but of course with out OverDrive.
Hook the wire back up and same thing happens. This time I pulled out wire and still no shifting. How do you know when lock up is engaged all the time? Does this sound like my problem? If so how can I get the lock up to come off? Lastly should I have one more toggle to switch on? Sorry so long just pissed off
