what is the best...

ok i have a fairly built 350, and i have a 700R4 right now with OD. i was wondering if i should go to the Turbo 350 or the TH350, or is the same thing. i dont know anything when it comes to gear boxes. im better with engines. any ways what do you all think, the turbo 350 without out over drive, its a 3 speed auto, or the TH350 with a 4 speed auto. this car is going to be mainly a daily driven and such, but the problem with the TH350 is that its like a 7 hour drive away and i dont have a car. plus i would have to give him my 700r4 which i have a shop that is wanting to buy it off of me for 200.

so what do you all think, the turbo 350 with a slapstick or the TH350... im leaning to the turbo 350, anyways, thanks

ok, the turbo 350 and the TH 350 are the same tranny, a 3 speed auto without overdrive, in general it is supposed to be able to handle more power than the 700, but you also lose fuel economy and the 700 has a better 1st gear. Also a th350 will be cheaper usually. just depends on what you want to use the car for and how much power you're putting through it.

Also to install a th350 in a car originally equipped with a 700 you need to modify several things, the driveshaft is a different length, and the th350 has no provisions for mounting the torque arm from your rear suspention. There are a couple of other things but i can't remember off the top of my head

I just called up JEG's and AAMCO transmissions about a half hour ago, and they both told me that if you buy the TH350 transmission with the long tailshaft, the 700r4's driveshaft will work. There's also a kit in JEG'S for $80, it's a metal bracket that I think somehow allows you to use the 700r4 crossmember (does anybody konw exactly how the bracket works?) And it also allows you to connect the tranny to the torque arm.

So I'm thinking all you would need is a long tailshaft 350 trans, the kit, and a different torque converter. Am I missing anything in my list? (How about the t.v. or kickdown cable, are they interchangeable with the different transmsissions? Thanks to whoever helps...

Also, are the B&M converters any good? I was thinking about possibly the part # 20412 (Holeshot 2400.) Is this a decently high quality unit?
