Adding a tranny to a LT1 Block

My friend has a 92 Camaro that use to have a 396 in it, now he has an LT1 block and wants to put in a tranny, he wants to know which will be better a 700R4, a 2 Speed Powerglide, a T5 or what i say an M22 Rock Muncie......let me know what you all think will be best....oh and he will be pushin in excess of 300HP....AARON

It really depends what he is using it for, and what gears he has in the rear. Is he looking for an overdrive transmission which is preferred in a daily driver, or is it a race vehicle. Is the car set up for a manual transmission? Does he want to put the extra effort to convert it if its not? These are questions that he needs to figure out himself... Personally, the T-56 is my transmission of choice. It is an extremely nice and streetable trans.
