700R4 to a tremec t5 questions
I am about to inherit a 85 V6 camaro from my father, he wants to get a more fuel efficient car to go to work in and I'm tired of having to deal with my 99 camaro. Don't ask (she lives at the shop and visits me occasionaly).
Cutting to the chase the car has a worn out 700R4, instead of paying for a rebuild. I would much rather replace the transmission with a T5, much like the one I have now. I have been reading previous posts and have surmized that I will need the following from a junkyard:
1. pedal assembly
2. shift boot trim
3. flywheel
4. clutch linkage
5. master&slave cylinders
6. bellhousing
7. T5
I have heard other people also say that I will need a new driveshaft (original is the wrong length) and a new torque arm. These Items I am not sure about.
I looked at http://www.fortesparts.com/tremec/tr3550.html
per the suggestion of laiky on a different post and this looks promising. I just wanted your input about what I think I need and if I should replace the computer in the car with the computer of a manual car. I don't know what wiring differences this job might present.
Thanks alot.
