Sounds like a Turbine Engine

I have problems with both my cars now. Firebird problems are listed HERE

But my IROC is making a freaking loud "WWRRRRRRRRRR" when I am slowing down to a stop. It's the loudest when it downshifts into 1st. The tranny is a 700R4 with a TransGo shift kit. I have never attempted my own transmission work short of a shift kit. So I am about to have it looked at by someone else.

Anyone have any tips with handling transmission shops?? I've been lucky and have put 160k miles on my cars together and NEVER had trassmission problems, this is the first time.

dammmmit!!!!

I was hoping it was the pump!! Suspected the TQ converter, but was hoping I was wrong.

Never even though about the flexplate!! Which makes sense the more I think about it.

I can pull the cover off and check the flexplate for a cracks, but I'm not sure how (if possible) to test the TQ converter?

Thanks!! At least now I might be able to diagnose the problem before I take it somewhere. Thanks for the response.
