HI,

I have an 87 IROC 305 auto with RPO G80 (which incidently doesn't work). I hit a kurb and bent my drivers side halfshaft and need to get one from a bone yard. What I'm wondering is what year cars can I take one from? And does it matter if the car is a V6 or if it has a 5 speed or an auto? I'm wanting to get the right one first time round

It's not a half-shaft, it's an axle. You'll create major confusion (and ultimately they'll just tell you they don't have it, so they don't have to deal with it) by attempting to use that other word which doesn't apply to these cars.

Is your rear a 9-bolt or a 10-bolt?

If it's a 9-bolt, then it will have to be the driver's side axle from a 9-bolt. Any year Camaro or Firebird 9-bolt will do.

If it's a 10-bolt, either axle from any Camaro or Firebird 10-bolt from 88 back will work.
