My wifes car (95 cavilier 3 speed auto)started acting funny over the weekend.Friday night she said she heard a bubbling noise.Saturday she went out and it started popping into 2nd and not wanting to shift into drive.She ended up revving it high.She says it would only do 35mph and it started smelling funny.I drove it myself today.It does pop into second pretty hard and revved high until shifting around 50 or so.on the way back it shifted about 35.The tranny fluid was topped off about a month ago but is now about a quart short but theres no puddles in the driveway.Does it sound like the trannys going out?I was told its cheaper to get a used one than rebuild one...is it?Anything else that should be checked before doing a tranny swap?Btw if your wondering what this has to do with thirdgens.....shes gonna be driving my 89 RS until her car is fixed!
