Bolt-on OD?

A friend of mine was telling me about a device which you can bolt on to a TH-400 and im sure any other GM auto tranny and that it would basically double the number of gears it would have.

He told me it was a kit and that on the shifter there was a button on the side that would engage the gear in the extension. And when you ratchet the shifter forward it disengaged the gear so that you go:

1
1-OD
2
2-OD
3
3-OD

So that you now have a 6-speed auto transmission with the strength of TH 400. The extension is supposed to hold up to 1100 HP.
I was wondering if anyone else knew of this or has/is using one.
Apearant;y they used it on the TH-400 that was behind the new GM 572 crate motor. Certainly quite a deadly combo.

It's the gear vendor over/under drive unit. Cost ~$1800-2000.

Where are you guys getting these quotes for 700R-4's? You guys are getting hosed. There are three or four companies here in So. Cal. that offer a 700 or a 4L80 w/a converter built to your chassis for $1500.00.....

I have put 600HP 502's in front of these trannies just to let you know that they wont just fall apart like some products on the market. I wouldnt really advise anyone to put a Gear Vendor's unit into an F-Body though. You will find yourself to be very space limited.
