Transmissions and Drivetrain Need help with your trans? Problems with your axle?

Need help installing shifter...broke stock 1, replacing it with a stock one :(

Need help installing shifter...broke stock 1, replacing it with a stock one :(

I don't have the cash right now for a Ripper...but can you guys give me some detailed(if possible)info on swapping the shifter stock for stock? anything would help me out, i can barely drive the car, and i need it fixed badly! please help!! all i really need to know is, what tools i will need...and accesories if any i will need...also how many bolts to remove console?? thanks guys, i really need help FAST! thanks again!

Car: 1984 Firebird
Engine: 350 Terminator EFI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 4.10
no special tools needed, to remove the shifter from the trans, (a t5 I assume) it is 4 13mm bolts, but first remove the plate around the shifter which gets the first boot outta the way, and see if you can get to the all the screws holding the rubber boot down, if you can then there is no reason to remove the whole console. if not then you got a ton more bolts to take out. i don't remember how many bolts or where they all are, just use your head, look around once you think you got it, try and remove it, it it seems stuck stop pulling and figure out why, chances are there is a bolt you forgot

Thanks...do i really need to apply silicone sealer on the tranny before putting the new shifter in??? and does it need to be adjusted?? thanks a lot!

i would use a little silicone, just to keep down any chance of water gettin in there, and or a little gear oil getting out.

the t5 is an internal rail type transmission, so there is absolutely no adjustment that you can or need to do, since factory shifters have to stops, or anything
