TH-35OC in '81 G-body daily driver, TCC operation
This car's computer controlled carb and distrib have been replaced with non computer ones. The torque conv obviously doesn't lock now and i'd like it to.
Can I wire a switch to the 5-slot ALDL connector in this car and control the lockup, like with the later 12-slot ones? If not, does anyone know what the colors of the harness wires for the lockup is supposed to be, and which is ground and power? They're not listed on my 80-81 schematic. Thanks for any help.

Yes you can run 12v and use the L/U control to operate it. The earlier 350C's had an internal ground switch but you would still need to be able to cancel it with throttle or a switch but it would probably be easier with the L/U control.

Can you tell me a little more about this? The two wires on the harness appear to be a beige-tan-ish wire, and an orange wire with a black stripe.....or something closely resembling those colors, they're stained from years of grime. I'd like to tap the wire(s) right at the ECM connector instead of running new ones down under, but i'm unsure of the color coding.
The internal ground switch; does this mean that it lifts ground when the fluid's cold or something?

Yours would not have the ground switch but it would complete the circuit when a specific Governor Pressure (road speed) was reached. I don't know the colors off hand but at the connector itself on the Tranny is an A and D terminal. The A is for 12V and D is ground. I do like the idea of using the harness since it is there though. I'll try to remember to look it up if I can and get the info to you. I'll have to remember that one!

this is weird
Got into it today, and things don't quite seem right. I pulled the connector off the socket on the tranny, and rang the wires out at the ECM connectors with a continuity tester.
There's a tan wire, and a tan with black stripe that rang out; seems the wire colors outside of the interior changed with weathering over the years.
The tan one is on the "A" terminal, but when plugged back into the tranny it grounds itself out (blew a fuse dicovering this). The tan/black one which goes to the "D" terminal didn't ground.
Leo, could this connector wire up opposite of how you said it does? Or is something screwed up?
