t-56 horsepower ratings?

Has anyone noticed any problems after installing a t-56? As in it blowing up? This guy i talked to said that someone he knows power shifted into 5th gear one time and Fu@ked his tranny. I have never heard anything like it? Has anyone had any problems? And what are the hp ratings on the trannys thanks.

I dont know about advertised specs, but at SEMA years back, I was talking to one of the BorgWarner engineers (as he was walking into the show carrying a T-56 that was still warm) and he told me that he just completed an endurance test on the trans at 500+ ftlbs for 24 hours. In reality, I'd say that its good for (depending on first gear ratio) 450-475 HP and for torque, I think we pretty much summed that up at 500+ ftlbs.

The only people I know of having T56 problems are the later ones...in the LS1 cars. Synchros aren't as good as they used to be on the LT1s. The T56 is very durable, with the only weak link being the clutch and hydraulics themselves. The McLeod Street Twin will handle about anything you throw at it...I'll never use anything else behind a T56. A buddy of mine who had a 600+ rwhp 4th Gen TA that he dragged fairly often had no problems with his T56, but when he upgraded the motor (over 950 RWHP) recently he had D&D Performance in Michigan go through it and add the Viper input shaft.
