How bad is it...

Ok.... so i pulled my engine 2 months ago, fixed a bunch of stuff, and put it back in, but the transmission lines got wrecked so mi fexed those.... unfortunately, where i coupled the new lines to the old (i was a fool, as i should have gone all the way to the transmission) the old ones had cracked and started leaking. So i replaced all the lines... one problem down...
Next, i noticed another leak at the front of the trransmission pan. i assume this is a result of the silicon being compressed and released when supporting the tranny during the engine pull. so i bought a gasket, and put it in (gasket was bad,and disoved....don't ask) so yesterday i redid the job with silicon gasket maker. problem two solved.
BUT IT IS STILL LEAKING!!!
so i removed the inspection plate (or bellhousing) and noticed a stram of fluid funning down from where the torque converter plugs into the tranny....

So I have 3 questions
1. What could be leaking (converter, seals, etc)
2. What is involved in fixing the problem, can I do it myself, or am i better off bringing it to a mechanic (ie. this is serious ****)?
3. roughly how much do you think the parts i need, or the repair is going to cost???

As far as doing the repair myself, my facilities include my driveway and jackstands, and about 24 hrs of available time per week...
How long do you think it's gonna take to fix, given an hour or two of work a night.

On a related note. the hardware holding the trany to the body is severely rotted. If the bolts break off in the subframe, am i totaly screwed?

thanks guys

Ps. I haven't driven my car in 2 month's and am having withdrawls....somebody please save me!!!!!

if you have oil leak in the converter area it's either the pump seal at the converter or the pump seal to the case. either way you have to pull the trans to fix it. the parts would be cheap, 10 dollar range

This normally a torque converter seal ( front seal ) problem and I agree the parts are inexpensive, however given the information that you have a rust problem perhaps you might shop around for prices to replace the seal at your local repair shops as they will have the equipment to repair broken bolts that might very difficult to fix on jack stands especially if this a daily driver. Plus if you haven't installed a converter, it has three sets of splines that have to be engaged or damage to the trans will require you to replace the front pump. My advice, let a transmission shop do the work. Sorry for the long post,Dave.
