torque converter and rebuild kit
Hello
I have a 1989 Firebird Formula 5,0 V8 with th700r4 transmission. My question concerns the torque coverter. I have installed crane cams camshaft CRN-113932 with RPM range 2000 - 5000 RPM. But my stock torque converter is not working well with it. The car is sluggish until it reaches 2500 RPM, then it starts to go, but not as fast as I expected. I need a right torque converter to match the camshaft. What brand and product would you recommend me (part number). My car should have about 300 -350 horsepower so the converter should be strong.
The second question is about transmission rebuild kit.
I`m thinking about Hughes kit, summitracing part code:
HUP - HP3788K. Is it a right choice?
Please I need wise advice, before I spend my money.
Regards
Marcin

What is the duration of the camshaft at .050 lift?, lobe centers?, What rear end gear ratio are you running?, what is the vehicle used for?, daily driver or weekend warrior?,etc. This will help to determine the stall of the torque converter.

Well if I read the right spec ( cam timing) the duration at .050 is 210. Correct me if I`m wrong ( I`m not good at camshafts). I can scan the whole specs sheet that I got with the camshaft if necessary.
I`m running a 2.73 stock gears.
The vehicle is driven 2-3 days a week, and few times in a year I take it for a drag racing. Well I`m also a stop light racer. The car was modified as follows:
Crane Cams Camshaft 2000-5000 RPM
Crane cams roller rocker arms 1.6 ratio
corvette zr-1 fuel pump
bigger injectors
hypertech powerchip
160F powerstat thermostat
flowtech headers
mallory adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Thanks for any help!!
