You cut the hole large enough for the shifter? maybe cant get it over far enough to the right to engage.

Supposedly you have to wire the reverse lockout solenoid to the brake switch so it deactivates when you push the brakes. That meaning when you push the brakes, you will then be able to put the trans in reverse.

then again if it's not what is mentioned above, you may have the same problem i had. the syncros on reverse went out.

How much did it cost you to have your synchros replaced?

You don't have to wire the solenoid to shift into reverse. The solenoid just makes it easier to shift into reverse. To shift into reverse push the shifter to the right, like you are going to shift into 5th. When you feel it stop moving to the right, push harder, you feel another spring and the shifter should move farther to the right. Now just push the shifter forward and you are in reverse. Energizing the solenoid just makes shifting into reverse easier. But take it from, you don't want it on all the time because when you go to shift quick from 4th to 5th, you can very easliy grind your reverse gear if the solenoid is energized.

There should be some threads in the archives about wiring up the reverse solenoid.

i had the hardest time tryin to find reverse when i got my used tranny, but of course i didnt have a stick on the shifter yet so i couldnt put enough torque on it to move it over there.

it is a bit hard still to get it in even with my Hurst Billet/plus shifter
