just wondering,how i could tell my trans apart,my brother in law,gave it me,he didnt know what it was,and i dont either,i know its a chevy,but not sure weather its "350"or a "400"how can i check this out,also,this will be going into my s-10,im going to have it rebuilt,how much ball park will it cost for a rebuild,with a good shift kit,and can someone recommend me a good tc for it,going to be a street driver,with 305 mild motor,prolly a 262 cam,and regular 4bbl,thanks.

I'm going to assume you know for certain it's either a 350 or a 400...
If the pan is square, it's a 350. If it's shaped like an oven mitt, or like Texas, it's a 400.
