rear ideas???

This past weekend i was so pissed off. There was a 95 z28 at the junkyard with a 3.42, limited slip, disc rear. I went back to get it and they had crused the car including the rear. The interior and the engine & tranny were gone so they said it was no good. I have been looking for a good rear for a while now with no luck. I have a 350 with about 450 engine hp and need a good rear to back it up. Whatever i get i am planning on some 4.10s for it but still need something better than the 2.73 open i have now. All the local junkyards only have some rs's with open rears and so no. Im looking for any other cars i could look for rears on or anything???? I jusy dont have 2 grand to fork out for a moser rear but still need a decent posi for the car. Any help would be great thanks!!!!

rebuild it with a $99 torsen unit from SLP and get some good gears like motive or richmond gears. Then rebuild the rear. This is a pretty hard task if you've never done it before so i would ask a friend with knowledge to help if you don't know how to do it.

Is this the right part??

Also 1982-88 requires changing to 28 spline axles where would i get these at?

my rear has 2.73s so its a 2 series carrier? This is a 3-series differential so would it work with mine? or is it just changing it to a 3 series? Thanks

try a local salvage yard, they will usually let them go for about 50-100 for the pair.

I know, the whole body other than ft dr side corner and the nose was in nice shape. They could have at least left the whole rear of the car.

So let me understand this....Myself I have an 87 rear with the stock 3:23 gears. I could use that $99 torsen unit, but I would have to swap my axles to 28 spline ones...Correct???

Would I also have to change my gears too, I would like to swap them when I am in there but it might be cost prohibitive for me at that time so could I continue to use the stock ones????

Thanks
