HOw can u tell if a posi is going out?

I'm maybe thinking i have a dying posi. Any suggs how to tell? 89 9 Bolt 3.27's I drive good, no burnouts, and mostly highway miles on teh car, but i'll do the occational doughnut in the parking lot or a quick peel out. but i knoticed on a very sticky pavemen one time trying to do a burnout the car was trying to spin both but then i heard a clunk and then the pass side tire just started spinning. I've changed my rear fluid and i tlooks good. I'm now running syn out back with the modifier. BTW how much to replacements cost?

Mkos, sounds like you are in the same boat as me. I think mine is on its way out too. The only place I've seen posi units for our cars is 9bolt.com ($445). I've heard of install being around $150-200.

i think doughnuts are the number one cause of posi's blowing up!!!

burnout's hardly seem to do any damage, and then when i started to do doughnuts, bickedy bam my posi starting making noises when i would try and powerslide turns and stuff, but it would still do straight line burnouts fine!!

o well that was on my 1988 formula 350, now i have my 1991 and i am not doing any doughnuts anymore!!

make sure you dont have like a caliper holding up one side, even different in tire pressure can cause wear.

I've never done any "doughnuts". I have done alot of burnouts though, mostly at the track.
