I need the facts!!!
Maybe I can get some help from you guys. Is the B4C torque converter for a 1992 the same as a L98 production torque converter???The dealer doesn't even know what a B4C is much less what in the trans. The dealers parts shows nothing! The parts man know nothing and they look at me like I am nuts!I have read all the posts and I have leaned nothing about B4C converters. The dealer tells me that the trans. are the same as the production 700R4 thats BS!!
Thanks

Thanks Morley, I new the where different in from the standard converters but didn't know how. I was thing about using a 92 corvette converter, but I would like to see the difference between the to. The other opition would be to rebuild the B4C converter just to be on the safe side. It just kills me to try to buy parts from parts house that doesn't jack **** about what you need and will not get up off thier a$$ and find out.
thanks

I don't think you will ever find a converter asking for a "B4C" converter, because you will not find option B4C in any of the parts catalogs (at least all the ones I have looked through). The best way to go about this is to find somebody that actually has a stock B4C camaro and sweet talk them into getting the 4 digit code from the passenger side of the transmission. There are actually 8 numbers/letters stamped right above the pan towards the rear passenger side, but all you will need is the first four.
I.e. 1FUM086C for example, all you need is the 1FUM. Then go to the dealer and say you need a torque converter, and you have a 1FUM transmission, and he can square you away.

4L60bliss thanks for the help. I have a 92 B4C and the trans. has just rebuilt and is on the work table. The number on the side of the pan base is" 2FUM154C". The I'll check with the dealers Monday morning and see if they can tell me what I need to know. It seems they could have given a idea on what to look for or number are something! Is thier anything I need to do to the trans. while it is out? How do you clean the coolants lines? What is the fluid pressure on the cooling lines?
Thanks 4L60bliss for your help!
