Quick 9bolt help needed!
Quick 9bolt help needed!
Ok, I found a posi (has tag still) diskbrake 3.45 9bolt out of an 85 Iroc for $450 CND. I know they are strong but thats about it. So, will the disks that look like 12" but could be 10" fit under 14" wheels? It's not a huge issue because I want to upgrade wheels to 17s but something to think about. Are the rear disks the same as the ones on 10bolts (1 piston)? Also, does someone have the axel codes for a 85 BW9bolt? The guy says its about 3.5 but I want to make sure, and I dont think he'll let me take it apart. I have drums now so he's including the proportioning valve and the master cylinder, so will the brakes bolt right up? I have a chance to go get it tomorrow so anything more I can look for or know of would be great. I can finally replace my one-legger! Thanks in advance

Disks probably won't fit under the 14 inch wheel.
Rear disks are 1 piston, but not the same as 10 bolt disks.
9 bolts were not available in Irocs until 86, but IIRC, the axle code starts with a 4 (look on the main page here).
Common factory ratios were 2.77, 3.27 and 3.45. Count the revs of the pinion yoke while turning the tire one rev and divide.

Thanks 427. I actually can't get it now because my car totally died on me, but the info will still be useful in the future. Oh, and the BW I was thinking of was an 86, my bad.
