Shifting from park to drive and BAM!
The truck lunges forward BIG TIME. Only when the engine is warm. I was told by some fella at www.turbobuick.com that it could have be the wrong TC was installed with a high idle, however....
Pheonix recommended the TC (when I originally ordered the 2004R) after they spoke to me as to how much the L6 was modified/drivetrain questions and the like.... It is the Lock-up type, not sure how much stall. Idle is 750rpm.
Could it be that the line pressure is too high. If so, how does one change it?
Any other ideas some hometown can pass along...CHEVYTOWN

From: working at a horse farm, gonna go to somerset county tech. inst. in january.
Car: 87 GMC sierra classic
Engine: fresh 350, minor mods (its been de-emissioned too)
Transmission: professionally re-built 700R4, REALLY hard shifts & bigger clutch packs
My truck does the same thing (and in reverse too). I got the 700R4 rebuilt and it still did it. It does it if its warm too, but not as often and not as hard. Plus, i think my IAC is out of whack. Ive seen 80s GM trucks do it alot, actually, so it almost seems normal or to be expected.
One other person asked if it had a shift kit installed. If it does have one, would that lead to this problem as well...Well, maybe not a problem, but damn annoying that's for sure!
I do have a TBI on the L6. I'll do a search on the IAC...

Improper TV adjustment/geometry can cause this along with high line pressure for any other reason. High idle will also do it, but 750 doesn't seem too high. Can you reset it to 600 and try it there? That is closer to normal for these.
I am a little confused. Do you have a 700-R4 or a 200-4R? Either way you can get harsh engagements on either one. Many did this pretty much from the Factory. Depending on year/model and the required setup I often make changes internally that don't affect performance but make for a nice quick, smooth engagement. Who did the Tranny for you? Higher stall will tend to make it a little smoother or at least reduce "creep" at idle.

Phoenix from Texas. It is a weird geometry. Because of the L6's nature. The adjustment was made by the fella who installed it. Everyone swears to the bible about this fella. He did do a hell of a job too. There were several mods that were done to accomidate the 2004R.
I'm thinking maybe it's the line pressure. It's too high. But the weird thing is it doesn't do it while it's cold. Does the oil "expand" when it gets warm, thus causing the higher pressure?
