Disconnecting Driveshaft

My transmission is toast and I can't roll my car backward, so I'm disconnecting the driveshaft. I have the caps off the rear pinion flange. It looks like the only way to proceed is to slide the driveshaft forward so I can get the u-joint out, but I can't get it to go. It is a litle rusty under there. How do I get the u-joint out?

If you have the driveshaft unbolted from the rear end, you will probably just have to pry/pound it loose from the rear end of the car. If it hasnt been out in a long time they can stick in there pretty good.

Yeah, I just had to pry between the pinion flang and u-joint and eventually I got it. Thanks.
