DANA 44, Where can you find one??
I am wondering if anyone knew where you could get a hold of a Dana 44 for a thirdgen in the US. I read somewhere that GM used to sell them. I know they are discontinued but does anyone have a part number?

If you can't find a used one anywhere, try SLP. They may still have some available.

SLP used to sell them in their catalog but they will be hard to find now. A used one will pop up every once in a while on ebay or a classifieds board.

I have already broken my stock 9-bolt with my lightly moded 350. I want to get a Dana 44 because they are cheaper then 12 bolts, parts are easier to find then the 9-bolt and I won’t have to worry about breaking it with the power my engine is putting out. I know a Dana 44 will cost more then a 9 bolt but I have had very very bad luck with rearends lately and don’t want to have to mess with them anymore. I want something good and that I can get parts easily for.
Any more ideas where I should look for a dana 44?

Cheaper than 12 bolts? Maybe a used one if you can find one. The difference in price between a new Dana44 and a new bolt-in 12 bolt was only a couple of hundred dollers. Not a big difference in price. For the extra couple of hundred it would be better to buy the 12 bolt.

Well from what I hear you can get a dana 44 for about $700-950 used. That’s what some people have told me they got there’s for on this board. If I could find a used 12 bolt for that price I would seriously consider it. But every used 12 bolt I have seen for sale went for $1200 or more.
