WC T5 swap into a 700R4 IROC...
I'm gathering what I need.
I have the basics covered, now looking for what I need regarding torque arm mount, crossmember etc.
Searches have told me the crossmember is the same. What about the torque arm mount? All the pt #'s I see in my parts catalog have been discontinued.
I've got pedals, hydraulics, bellhousing, flywheel, tranny and shifter.
On the list...
- Clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing ( any recommendations here? )
- Pilot bushing
- Torque arm mount, don't want to tear this thing down on Friday and find out I need a special order GM part.
Tranny is a '91 Z28 T5 and I'll be swapping the VSS for a speedo driven gear set from a 3.42 equipped tranny ( close enuf for my temporary 3.23's for now )
I'll find a plug for the reverse lights. I'll jumper the P/N Auto switch wiring.......
Any other additions I'm missing?
Thanks

The torque arm bushing didn't come with the trans?? Some dealers might have it...others won't. You can call a dealer and see if they have it. If they don't, ask them to use the parts locator to see if any local dealers have it.
I believe the V8 crossmembers were the same. The V6 C-members are different from auto/stick though.....
Do you have:
-5 speed console plate?
-Rear main seal? (might as well replace it)
-PROM calibrated for 5 speed? (some people change it, some don't. I'm changing it because of idle speeds and EGR operation. If you jumper the Neutral Start Switch wires, the EGR will never be commanded on with an Auto PROM)
-resurfaced flywheel? (or is it new?)
-New clutch fork?
BTW, I'm also doing the swap in a couple weeks. I have all the parts collected already.

the tourqe arm mount on the tranny is different. I did the swap in my last t/a pretty straight forward just make a template of the slave cylinder cut out. I can tell you it is goona be a majore pita getting it in with the engine in and the sterring column in. Take the column out and you'll be ahead of the game.

I would reccomend a ram clutch and pressure plate. I have it on mine and I'm happy with it. They run about $150 from summit. I would also reccomend the roller pilot bearing from summit (like $15).

The torque arm mount can be tricky. Gm made 2 different ones. The both are the same shape externally but the inside has to deffernt cuts. One has a cut likr the letter E and the other is a mirror image of E. I am not sure what years got what. If your gonna replace it, get an Energy Suspension mount. They are not exspensive at all. Just look under your car and see what mount you have now. This is what Summit says:
ENS-3-1111R Chevrolet/Pontiac: 1984-92 Camaro/Firebird, lips facing away from the driveshaft, red, torque mount bushing set$11.95
ENS-3-1112R Chevrolet/Pontiac: 1984-92 Camaro/Firebird, lips facing towards the driveshaft, red, torque mount bushing set$11.95
Hope this helps
