Tranny going bad?

Ok, I have a 1986 Trans Am WS6 with the 700R4 tranny with a recently put in 350 TPI with a mild cam and performance custom chip. It is still down at the shop getting the chip done and waiting to be dynoed. The guy that is doing the work says my tranny is "going soft" and will have to replace it soon. He says its due to the power gain and i shouldn't have over 300HP. I test drove it to see if i like how i like the chip yesterday and it seems to be fine but it doesnt seem to have a quick harder shift its more medium shift and slight hesitation between shifts. Could my tranny be going bad?

might need to adjust the cable, you dont want slipping though.
