Car: 89 Formula
Engine: 305 TBI
Transmission: 700R4
Tranny Troubles

Broought Car into the shop today, cause of some tranny slipping problems (89 Formula 305TBI 700R4) mechanic reccomended dropping the pan and flushing the fluid and putting in a new filter along with an additive. found lots of metal at bottom of pan. any good advice, or am i going to need the rebuild if so how much am i looking for, would like to go with a built up tranny if thats the case any reccomendations of tranny shops in Long Island, NY and costs

Well, if there is what you say is in the pan, then you have two options. You can fix it, which would consist of an overhaul plus replacement of all failed hardparts, or you can ride it out until it leaves you stranded. If there is metal debris in the pan (not just sludge on the magnent but actual metal pieces) then something has come apart inside.
