t5 tranny questions

Engine: 305 TPI-New 355 on the engine stand
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.73 Eaton posi-Soon a 9" Ford!
Sounds like your syncros are gone. You can get a rebuild kit from Hanlon Motorsports for around $150 and do it yourself. Also get the video they have for $20.
You will need a few extra tools to do the T5, but nothing that's very hard to come by. I did my T5 with the Hanlon kit and video, and it shifts better than when it was new. A shop quoted me $1200 to rebuild it, and I did it myself for $335. (I lost a cluster bearing and had to replace my cluster shaft for $155). But I still saved around $900 doing it myself.
Don't be afraid of a T5. Just get the video and you are set.
