Speedo Drive Gear Question.....
I searched previous posts in case this question has been asked and answered. i couldn't find anything on it, so I will ask.
I am switching out my driven and drive gears on a new tranny that Dana at Pro-Built put together for me, due to a rear gearing change.
I took the old drive gear off my old TH-700 and broke the key/clip/lock that holds the gear to the output shaft.
Does anyone happen to know what the name of this part is?
When ordering a new drive gear from GMdirect, will it come with this piece or do I have to order it separately?
I haven't gone to the dealer yet, but I was looking for it online with no luck.
Second,
The flywheel I received with my new motor is 153 tooth versus the 168 tooth that I removed, and does not have the welded pre-fabbed fasteners for the torque converter.
Am I safe in assumming that I can get a grade 8 cap screws with cut washers and locknuts to secure my new ACT torque converter with some loctite or is there a better method?
Thanks!
can't wait to get this rollin!

I would think its called a drive gear retaining clip, or C-clip.
I don't know if its included in a kit. When I got my gears from GM I had to order each gear individually.
I'm pretty sure you can get the clip by itself from a dealer.

If you can find one at a dealer, I have a couple extras of them in my tool box and can send you one for $5 shipped if you want.

yeah its a "drive gear retaining clip"... when i recently changed my gears me and my buddy broke 2 of them
they do not come when you order the speedo gears... at least mine didn't ... i ordered my gears from the local GM dealership... the clips are like $2 a piece from GM... just go pick up a couple of them and you should be alright... they break real easy though... you just gotta be careful!!!
