tire height and rear end ratio

i have a stock gear ratio th 700 r4 trans. i'm using a 2,000 RPM converter, a motor that makes power till 6000, redlines at 6,500 RPMs, i'm using 3.73's with 26 inch tall slicks, when i change from slicks to stock tires, i gained 2 trap MPH's and a few tenths, even though my 60 ft times suffered. would i be better off using a 4.10 gear than a 3.73 with those slicks?

For slicks to run correctly with the least rolling resistance and maximum traction, they need to be mounted on the recommended rim size or slightly wider, and run on the high side of the recommended air pressure as possible, (watch your 60-foot times & mph closely. If you do some experimenting here you might find you will gain most of it back.
