axle question

i have a 92 rs camaro. and im not sure if this makes a diff but i think the rearend is a 88 or an 89. the code on the rearend was a lil to dirty but the only ones that were close to them were the 88 and 89 rearends. to read but i was just wondering if these cars had a 26 spline alxe or a 28 spline alxe. i am debating about buyin a posi unit and i dont think i will have the money to swap alxes right now so i wanted to know which one it is. ive heard its 26 and ive heard its 28 can someone help. does it make a diff btw rs rearends and irocs or are they all the same. thank for the help.

If it's a 88 rear, odds are about 100% it's 26-spline. If it's a 89, the odds go down to about 70% that it's 26-spline.

Don't waste your time on a bunch of codes, which might or might not tell you what's actually inside the housing. Just pop an axle out and look. Takes about 15 minutes, and saves untold grief.
