Alright here goes nothing. I have a 1985 chevy camaro.WIth a V8 and a 305 engine. About 8 weeks ago I put in a used carborator in my car. Suddenly my transmission wouldnt shift. i switched the carborator from an electronic one to a non electronic one. Anyways back to the transmission. I figured the transmission went bad in it because it had about 170,000 miles on it. So i decide to save alittle money and by a used transmission from a junkyard that was under warrenty for six months. So thinking it was probably an ok transmission i mount it to my engine. After doing so i try it out. It wouldnt shift. So figuring it was the tv cable i changed it to different locations. Still didnt shift at all. And i heard that it still would shift even the tv cable wouldnt be in the right place so that ruled the tv cable out. Then i remembered that we had used the same torque converter as the beginning transmission. So we went back to the place we got the previous transmission, which is number 2. And traded that for another one. which would be transmission #3. Converted it to fit into my car and mounted it to it. I also used another torque converter than the previous. Finally got it in and the car still wouldnt shift. Then i believed it was the carborator that i changed but i was told that is had nothing to do with it not shifting. So i have ran out of options and ideas on what could be the problem with my car. It has been a frustrating 8 week. Did you hook up the tv cable to the carb? I would think that if you didnt it would just cause it to shift early but not shift but if it had to do with the carb swap that would be the first thing I checked.
