Dumb question prob..but here goes- T-5
I have a 91 Z 305 TPI with t-5. My transmission is shot and was wondering if a world class t-5 out of a 92 mustang GT would work if i changed bellhousings? I am not familliar with mustangs and the dimensions of their trannies and i am not sure about the input shaft and teeth. someone lemme know please, i call numerous trans shops around the area and nobody knows. I can get a good deal that is why i am interested. Also, what about electical connections, VSS and other things that maybe i am forgetting to mention? thanks again

Right.... no way. Everything about the exterior of the trans is completely different; bolt patterns, splines, etc. even though everything inside is essentially identical.

Check out this site. It might help. I'm not sure what your budget is, though.

Just bought a Tremec TKO from Fortes.
Bolts right in.
About $2300 including shipping.
He changes the input shaft to GM Style 26 Spline, supplies an adapter plate so it bolts up to the T5 bellhousing. Gotta space the crossmember down 3/4" of an inch and torque arm bolts right up.
It also comes with a new Driveshaft yoke and adapter u-joint that uses the stock driveshaft.

Not 100% sure it can be done in an F-body but in has been done in a vette. The guy who had the t-5 in his vette has a bad *** mustang and a 900+horse blowen vette. He is also an engineer who does a lot of fabbing himself.
That silver thing is a adaptor plate he made himself to attach the mustang tranny to the GM bellhousing.

advanced adapters makes the bellhousing adapter
Its standard on all fortes tremecs. But, yul pay about 250 for it alone. Once you add all the cost of the other issues (like the input shaft and yoke), you will quickly exceed the cost of rebuilding your WC-T5.

ur still going to have the issue of the 15degree rotation
The bellhousing on GM fbodies has the bolt pattern rotated 15degrees counter clockwise to allow the shifter to be angled to the driver. If you use a vette bellhousing, you will loose that,, but then ul have to address the transmission mount being 15degrees from the proper location. Not to mention the hydraulic clutch linkage...

On the Mustang trans- what about swaping out the transmission case, the input shaft, and tailshaft housing from a Chevy T5 to a Mustang T5? Lets say you have a bad Chevy T5 and a good Mustang T5. Has anyone ever combined the 2 to make a good Chevy T5? Which parts will fit and which ones won't?
