It's very easy.... easiest to change the whole cluster, since then you don't have to take the cluster apart. Takes about 15 minutes to swwap a cluster.
so if i change it to say a 105 speedo, will it reconize that? Cause i notice when i took mine out for cleaning (85 t/a) that it looks like electrical prongs right? and it should reconize it but i want to make sure before i go looking in scrap yards.

Just make sure you grab a cluster that has the same tach as your old one or it will be way off. Other than that it is a direct bolt-in. I swapped in a 120 from my 85mph gauge. Easy, and works perfectly.
Thanks for the information, but i got one last question: On the does the ECM do anything with the speedo? Does the VSS run through it at all? 'Cause if it does, that could be a problem.

If you have an electronic speedo the VSS sends pulses to the ECM which converts them and sends them to the speedo gauge. The speedo will work as long as it came out of a third gen f-body.
