Degreasing clutch surfaces with laquer thinner?
Degreasing clutch surfaces with laquer thinner?
Quick question - I'm getting ready to install my new clutch pressure plate and resurfaced flywheel, and I'd like to make sure the contact surfaces are degreased. Will laquer thinner do the job, or am I better off using something else?

Lacquer thinner is also recommended for cleaning the cylinder walls during an engine rebuild. Even washing with soap and water won't remove all the oil from the metal.
Brake cleaner is good, laquer thinner and carb cleaner are much more hazardous to your health, don't get laquer thinner on your hands, it is absorbed through your skin and is a HD carcinogen. I like brake cleaner and latex gloves, if you go laquer you will need Nitrile gloves or better and some fresh air
sounds trivial but it adds up over the years
