You can get the gears and kit for quite a bit less.

http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...=28&cat=GM+7.5

The posi is the main thing to get from SLP.

Get a crush sleeve eliminator, it allows you to fully tighten the pinion nut without having to stop because the crush sleeve is already crushed enough.

You might also want to consider a girdle type of cover.

The cover is on that page, it's the T/A 1809. It is about ¾" thick and has 2 braces that screw down and press on the caps to hold them in place. Very sturdy piece.

The gears you want are the MGGM7.5-342 which is the GM Motive gears set. Find it on that page, ones from Richmond and Spicer and Precision and US Gear are also there, all are high quality parts; the Richmonds are really set up for racing though, they are very strong in drag race only applications but not as good a choice for the street (noisy and won't last as long). Your installer may have a preference, check before you order, if he has a particular tool or technique for one it may not work with another. There are ways to install any of them of course but if he prefers one over another for whatever reason, at least listen to him.

I don't see the crush sleeve eliminator on their page but I've bought it from them before.... Ratech 4111 might be the part #. http://www.ratechmfg.com/gmsolidspacers.htm it's easy to install; I'm not a mechanic or even mechanically inclined, and I can manage it. Instead of tightening the nut until the crush sleeve crushes until you get the right preload on the pinion bearings, you just select shims until the preload is right, then tighten the nut until it screams for mercy. No-brainer (which is probably why I can handle it, since I have no brain).

Their descriptions are pretty plain-English, shouldn't present much problem to figure stuff out... things like GM 7.5 3.42 RATIO should tell you what you need to know.
