What gear is it
I found a mid eighties H.O. 305 with an auto in it. Anybody have an idea what kinda gears would be in the back. It is presently setting in yard on 4 flats so I have been able to see the axle codes. I'm hopin' they are better than the gears I have in my 91 RS which I believe are 2:73

I know some H.O.'s came with 3.73's, so that is a possibilty,but there is no way to tell for sure unless you pull the rear end cover and look.
My 84 Z-28 305 H.O. with a 5-speed came stock with 3.73's, but when I blew the rear end out, I pulled the cover just to learn that it was a peg leg 3.08 if memory serves.

305 with a auto=99 44/100 % sure it would be a 10-bolt 2:73 with a 50% chance it would also be a limited slip. See if it still has RPO codes on console lid. G80 is limted slip & GU2 is a 2:73
