DRUM to DISC, retaining housing, axles.
Are they the same?
I've got a 10 bolt drum on the floor.
I've got a 9 bolt disc ..
Can I use the rotors, and calipers from the 9bolt, with new backplates on the 10 bolt? or is the 10 bolt axles different for the drum?
Thanks.

Axles are the same between drum and disc, except that the outer diameter of the flange on some drum axles won't fit inside the disc rotors.
The housings are radically different. There might be enough metal that if you cut off the big thing that sticks upward and holds the slave cyl, you could drill the disc backing plate bolt pattern in what's left.
Of all the things on a car that I am willing to rig, brakes are not on the list. I appreciate all others around me on the road having dependable brakes too, as I value my life and limb and that of my chidren and so on. I would strongly recommend getting the right stuff and doing it right, so we can all maybe live a little longer.

Well rear brakes arn't really a huge safety issue, unless your on wet pavement..
Anyway. I'm curious if I can weld the backing plates from my 9 bolt stuff, or order new ones and axles.
