A second opinion on my T5 input shaft...
Took the input shaft in to the local tranny shop to have the old bearing pressed off and the new one pressed on. The machinist took a look at the gear and commented that it was worn. Reason: he found a spot on the side of one of the teeth about 1/16" diameter that looked a bit rough. The rest of the teeth looked fine.
I had known about that spot, having inspected the teeth the previous day but I had thought that was probably a manufacturing defect. If there was a wear pattern like that I would be conncerned but since it was on just one face of one tooth I'm not sure if it's worth replacing the part.
I'd say I should run with the part. Any opinions either way?
Thanks once again!

In the t-5 repair manual i have it says that u can blend small chips with a grinder and basically just deburr any rough edges. I dont have to much experience with this subject so im not positive. If i were you i would contact HanlonMotorsports.com they are very nice people and great to do business with, they will most likely be able to tell u what u need to know.

Matt-good idea. On a recommendation, I bought their 'how to' video on rebuilding T5s. I'll give them a ring and see what they think. Due to funds I can't really afford to replace it unless it's chewed up. This thing wasn't chewed up by a long shot, and I'm not replacing it over what I could consider to be a cosmetic defect.
